BIO

Alex recently joined our team after nearly 20 years in diplomacy, national security, and defense contracting after graduating with a degree in Finance and International Business from William & Mary. In April 2026, Alex passed the state licensing exam, known as the Series 65*, and practices at S&H as a registered Investment Advisor Representative while he finishes his CFP® certification requirements. Alex is passionate about working with clients to wholistically think through the important aspects of their lives and develop a plan to reach their financial goals – whether that’s early retirement, getting the kids through school, or leaving a charitable legacy.

Alex is a longtime friend of S&H partner, Ricky Hutchins, CFP®, so he comes to S&H as a trusted and well-known addition to our team. Outside of work, Alex stays busy as a husband to his wife, Laura, and their five children. As such, Alex never misses the opportunity for a good dad joke, and while he’s not on the golf course or the football field like he used to be, he does his best to get out on the course a few times a year and throw the ball in the yard with his kids.

* The Series 65 exam also known as the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) Investment Advisers Law Examination is a NASAA exam administered by FINRA and serves as the education requirement to register as an Investment Advisor Representative with the SEC & the state of Georgia.

FUN FACT

Alex and Laura lived overseas for the first five years of their marriage and have been to almost every country in east Asia. Growing up, they independently served on mission trips around the world where their love for travel and different people groups was fostered.
