“Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts” —Sir Winston Churchill
Jessica is President of Sherrill & Hutchins and holds the distinction of having worked in every position within the firm over the course of her tenure. “I started as a receptionist when I went back to school to obtain my degree in accounting. I had a goal of becoming a CPA and moving out west afterwards.” Along the way, she realized how much she enjoyed working directly with clients and using her love of numbers to help them work through various financial issues. This drove her decision to remain at S&H and become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner.
Jessica has experienced some of the most challenging market conditions in the firm’s history. “I have impeccable timing: I joined the firm just before the dot com bubble burst and earned my CFP® designation just as the market was about to crash in 2007. These periods illustrated how important it was to keep our clients focused on their long-term goals in order to avoid herd mentality.”
Outside of her work at S&H, Jessica has long been committed to giving back through a variety of charitable involvements, with a particular heart for organizations serving at-risk populations in the Atlanta community. In recent years, her focus has turned closer to home. After losing her mother to Parkinson's Disease, Jessica has embraced the slower pace of life's everyday moments like tending to her garden alongside her husband Garrett, and cherishing time with family and friends.
Jessica recently moved back to her childhood neighborhood after seventeen years living in Midtown in order to assist her parents in North DeKalb (GO LHS Vikings!).
